Doing The iPod Shuffle Shuffle Double Act

The chances are that you will remember my presentation of “Physical Media Hacking” at this years Open Tech Extreme, and the agonisingly funny iPod Shuffle Shuffle experiment that I did. Something I recognised at this year’s EuroOSCon was that this is one of those stories that has gone round the net, leading to me being recognised in some instances as “the iPod Shuffle Shuffle Guy.” Even Gareth Jones’ (Gaz Top’s) partner has asked if it was me in hushed tones while they were at the Edinburgh Festival.

Chris Green and myselfSo why another nudge on this story now? Mainly because evey good act needs a straight man to take the butt of the joke – or in this case the shuffle with the private PGP Key on it. Chris Green was the man that made the Shuffle Shuffle story have such an impact with the punchline of the iPod’s content. It’s been a long road but while I was thousands of miles from home at last weeks Portable Media Conference, Chris comes over to me and, after a quick chat, he can now (just about) see the funny side of the day. I’m pretty sure we’ve buried the hatchet now, because telling the story to a group of people as a double act, handing the PGP punchline to Chris is so much more effective!

Thanks Chris.
