The BAFTA Went to the BBC Gaelic Website
‘Subject says it all, but I’m not to dissappointed. Having a BAFTA nomination for the podcast is nine tenths of the way for podcasting to be accepted into the mainstream. While it would have been the icing on the cke to have that final step of the actual award, I think this is yet another area where TPN and myself have notched up another podcasting first. While I was in the USA (and having just flown back this post is a bit shorter than you might be expecting) the Emmy’s announced a category that appears made for podcasting. So now the likes of Lost and Disney/Apple will take over the grassroots podcasting movement and will declare themselves at the cutting edge.
Just you all remember who showed you where that edge was…

Bummer. Sorry to hear the news Ewan. Hopefully, you’re wrong with your prediction about the ‘cutting edge’ of podcasting, and if you made the nominations this year, then maybe next year… someone who’s an independent podcaster will win. At least the recoginition and publicity is there. Even if not everyone’s heard about it yet. I even asked CS students who’d heard of podcasting the other day in a lecture, and only two out of eighteen or so had heard about it, so if they don’t know, then there’s still a long ways to go for the masses to know about it and vote on it for things like the BAFTAs. STill as you said, it was good to be nominated.
