And The Worst Picture Goes To…
Just spent a couple of hours in the throngs of press at the 26th Golden Raspberry Awards at the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood. Celebrating the worst that Hollywood generated in 2005, it was clear that the night would be a pun filled spectacular, and the script did not disappoint.
What surprised me wasn’t the loving audience (after all, people can support many things, and I love a bad bad movie as much as the next person), it’s the fact that the media are paying more and more attention to John Wilson’s little crusade against all that’s bad in the world of movies. I spent the night with a Japanese crew in front of me, the UK Press Association on my left, CNN on my right, and Entertainment Tonight behind me. That’s a mighty impressive place for a TPN reporter to be (even if I did go live on “Through The Night” on BC Radio 5 as the ceremony closed to provide an instant pundit reaction).
Got some great audio content both for the “Pods and Blogs” shows (yet again whoring myself to the British Broadcasting Corporation) and a TPN Movie Show next week. Spoke to some of The Razzie members, John Wilson (The Razzie Founder), a number of people in the audience, the CNN.com Entertainment Editor Todd Leoplold, and Dean LaMatta, a Razzies member. I’ll get these edited and passed on to the respective producers while you lot can check out the Flickr pics, including the moment I get my hands on an honest to goodness Razzie award. On the left is Jenny McCarthy’s Worst Actress Razzie, and Rob Schneiders Worst Actor is on the right. They didn’t turn up to collect them.
I’d like to thank the Academy…
