TPN Rock’s One Year Anniversary Shows
You know, I really should have posted the nudge to these shows a week or two ago, but one of the great things abotu TPN Rock is the archive of previous shows is still up there (on the flip side, the archive of the first few shows where I sound like a BBC Home Service Announcer from 1925 are still there as well…). Anyway, the last few weeks have seen some great shows go up, and they’re a little bit different to the normal shows you’d expect on TPN Rock – hey it was the one year anniversary so I wanted to do something a little bit different.
TPN Rock The Year Again (mp3) and TPN Rock – The Celebration (2005) (mp3).
These two shows were both an hour long, and featured some of the best artists from the first year of show. The Rock Again format gave me a chance to showcase the songs that made them ‘big’ on TPN Rock, while the second show saw me go back to each artist and ask for another track.
TPN Rock Sessions – The Outfit (mp3)
Glasgow based band The Outfit played Leith jsut before I flew to the US, and they were happy to have me mic up the band and capture their live performance of some of their own tracks (and a number of covers which couldn’t be played – which is a shame because their version of The Joker is great!). With some careful editing, the performance of their six tracks flows pretty well and it’s not a bundle of jump cuts. Something a bit different, but that I’d like to explore a bit more with TPN Rock bands.
TPN Rock #50 (mp3)
Every ten shows (the ‘decade’ shows) on TPN Rock, I do a recap of the previous nine shows, so TPN Rock #50 is made up from the best bands of #41 through #49. This is the third decades show that’s taken on baord the 45 minute format (regular shows are 30 minutes). I’m often asked why TPN Rock isn’t longer, and it’s basically because Ilike to keep you all asking for more, and keep teh quality up – but you also get a treat with a longer show at regular points. TPN Rock #50 is really growing on me with multiple listens, and I lvoe the fact that, as I do more and more TPN Rock’s, the songs are fitting together much better, and it’s easier for me to get a good flow.
(And why are they still labelled 2005 when it’s late March / early April? Well, ehrm, because i started last March… if you want a ret-con explanation, then it’s based on Tax Years…)
