Edinburgh Fringe Press Launch

So thanks to the delights of British Airways scheduling I just missed the press launch for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe program yesterday, so while the headline numbers are impressive (31,000 shows over 250 venues from 18,600 performers) and the press machine is already pointing towards the percieved highlights (the political lyrics about Tony Blair, a biography on John Peel, seven Harry Potter novels in under an hour, theatre based on the Rwandan genocide… and Jihad: The Musical), I need to sit down with the program and a bundle of research to find the unknown stars in the mix.

Tim Vine Is Not Appearing At The Fringe

I did take advantage of meeting a number of people up from various Fringe based organisations and venues to sort out some of the new ideas for the Edinburgh Fringe Podcast, but there’s nothing ready for public airing yet. But if even half the plans come to fruition, the coverage this year could be as revolutionary as the BAFTA nominated coverage of 2005.
