Fly Easy Air Scotia, Vulcan Picket Lines and Environmental Protestors

One for the Scottish comedy brigade here, but the Easyjet flight that I’m on has one of its fluorescent strip lights broken. It’s on the right hand side of the aircraft a little more than half way up the aisle. I’m half expecting the cabin crew to curse and bang the overhead locker next to it as they run past it. Oh dearie me.

The flight itself was delayed about an hour, because normally the Edinburgh to Paris flight uses an aircraft that does the Edinburgh to Standstead and back again morning flight. The environmental protesters this morning on the Standstead airfield put paid to that flight. One point to the protesters, have you any idea how much more aviation fuel has been burned today because of aircraft diversions to Luton and other airports, and then an extra take-off and land cycle to get the aircraft back to Standstead? Thought not.

Also, if it was me, i would have had a quiet call to a civilian airfield close by and flown the recently restored Avro Vulcan over them at 25 feet. That would have sorted them out, and been a great deterrent to others thinking of doing this.
