Touring with Intel, the Mid Moves Project

Just after Le Web this year, Steve Paine approached me and asked if I’d be interested in joining the Mid Moves team, where a number of bloggers take some new Intel based Mobile Internet Devices out and about to see what they can do.

So Nicole Simon is going to be all business like, Jenn Lee is going on a theme park tour of the US and Chippy is going on a multi-country tour around Europe. And me?

As usual I wanted to do something a little bit different. There’s less of a geographical tour to my trip, I’m going to do some meta-exploring around the UK.

While I don’t know the exact details of where I’m going to end up, I do know the topic. If the internet is becoming something that is almost elemental, then why not use the new mobile internet devices out on the road and have them face the four classical elements of fire, water, earth and air.

I’ll be reporting on the Mid Moves Website, as well as some posts here. I suspect Twitter will feature heavily as well, as I’d like to have some of the hi-jinks in the tour suggested by others. It’ll be one day per element, and I’m open to the weird and wild suggestions from the internet.

It should be obvious that this project has the support of Intel. The devices that the team will be using are currently on the CES show floor. Once James and Kevin have had a play with them, they’ll be shipped to us, ready for their trials.

The fun starts on January 19th.
