Why is there no Greggs at Heathrow?

At the risk of handing Michael MacIntyre some more material, a question about airports in general and Heathrow in particular. Why is one of the biggest success stories on the High Street not in the Departures Lounge serving up their, err, uniquely British baked and savoury foods?

I’m talking about Greggs the Bakers. Apart from the fact that they are everywhere else, I have the feeling that what people want when they get through the Security Theatre is a sit down, a decent cup of tea, and a little snack to keep them going. Just the sort of thing that the bakery chain delivers.

It’s all well and good being able to buy an (uncharged) iPad which needs connected to a computer to make it work in any case; an underwater hand-held motor sled for your scuba adventure, and a £75 bottle of whiskey you can’t take home anyway because you have a connection and another liquid theatre check that’ll confiscate the bottle.

What’s needed before an eleven hour flight is a steak bake.
