What’s The Perfect Computer For Le Web?

Before flying over to Las Vegas for Blogworld, I was looking at my carry-on bag and trying to decide if bringing my full laptop was a good idea. Would I really use it while I was travelling? While I was at the conference? In the downtime in the evenings and mornings? In the end I did take it, partly as a massive file storage for TV episodes and films to watch (via the PSP) and so I’d have a full editing suite if I decided to do any recording. How many media files did I transfer? Three. How much editing

Eurovision is bigger than cancer… fact

During Blogworld Expo every introduction and talk started with “and please use the tag #beatcancer so we can get a World Record” or something similar. Which frankly sounds really positive, but is it any different than hiring a click squad in china to work an advertising campaign or YouTube promotion? So the news that the tag #beatcancer was used 209,771 times, and set the world record for the most widespread social message in twenty four hours (a) does not come as a big surprise and (b) feels incredibly false to me. Of course it made a record, because you made

Thoughts on my “How To Be A Good Interviewer” Session at Blogworld

First of all thank you to everyone who turned up to my session at this weekend’s Blogworld Expo. Chatting to many of you both right after the session, and those of you who came up during the rest of the event, it seems that most of you had decided that this was one of your key sessions at Las Vegas. It appears that I didn’t disappoint you. One of the more frequently asked questions was if the presentation would be available online – which it now is, thanks to Slide Share. If you want to give any feedback on the

About Ewan Spence at Blog World Expo 2009

My bag is packed, the flights are sorted, the hotel is confirmed. All that’s left is to actually go and enjoy myself at Blog World Expo from now and through to the end of the week. I’ll be roaming on my mobile, so you can call me on +44 7966 152772, but be aware I’ll be quite brisk in the call. You can also text me on that number. Because I don’t have a data plan for roaming that doesn’t cost the Earth, and I can’t be in Wi-fi coverage at all times the easiest way to get a message

“The Book” and Blog World Expo next week

It’s less than two weeks to go until the Blog World and New Media Expo in Las Vegas, so I thought I’d let slip one of my little ideas for the event – The Book. People like to ask what’s in the sporran, and (the polite) answer while at Blog World Expo will be a Moleskine pocket notebook. Specifically a Japanese Album notebook that is one large concertinaed page that fits into the regular sized notebook format. Opened out it measures 8 feet 10 inches (2.7 metres) so there’s lots of space to fill in. My goal is to ask
