Final Post Direct from PalmSource DevCon

It’s all over. I am absolutely shattered. If I could have split in two by a horrible transporter accident, I could have covered twice as much and still not met everyone I wanted to, or talked to the hundreds of interesting people that All About Palm can help and be helped by. So rather than a great big summary of DevCon (you’ll find that over at All About Palm) I want to throw out a few personal thank yous. I’m not going to get round everyone, so apologies if you’re not here and you did help me out – I

It’s The Perfect Time To Resign

Interesting day (Tuesday) today at the PalmSource DevCon. My main ‘goal’ of the event is to speak to as many people as possible, find out about them, and let them find out about All About Palm. So a lunchtime meeting with Patrick Hurley from AirSet (a mixing of web based group calendaring with a mobile client for Palm and – soon – other platforms) got the ball rolling. A short break to pop along to the “Palm OS Programming for Dummies” session before getting registered, picking up the new PalmSource backpack, and a quick kilt change before attending the Palm

Visitng Mike, Ellie and Russ

Had a chance to catch up with people I know in the San Jose / Bay area yesterday, namely Mike Rowehl (Feedster and Mobile Mondays), Elle Kruszewski and Russ Beattie. Mike and Elle is clearly a house that has a lot of geeks passing through it – why else would a whiteboard in the kitchen be covered in java classes and php notes? Probably the most useful thing was that the house had Wi-Fi (unlike my Travelodge) so it was a chance to get online, grab the 300 odd emails waiting for me (of which about 15 were real…), post

If You’re Trying To Call Me…

For some unknown reason (the closest I can come up with being “US GSM networks are frakked”) I can’t receive any incoming calls on my mobile. Argh! SMS seems to be working, so if you need me in regards to PalmSource DevCon, or you want to sort out a time to meet up for drinks or a breakfast while I’m on the West Coast of the USA, please SMS me on +44 7966 152772. Thanks

Safely Landed In San Jose

Oh that was a long day of travelling. Getting up at 0530 in the UK to get my flight from Edinburgh to London, then London to Los Angeles, finishing with another hour long hop from Los Angeles to San Jose was a lot more tiring than previous flights to get to San Diego. I think the reason was two-fold. The first one being on previous trips I’ve started in London, either travelling down the day before or because I was already living in London. So this time I had the flight from Edinburgh (hour and a bit) plus the extra
