3GSM Here I Come

So after a little bit of wheeling and dealing on the internt , both Rafe and I are now definitly going down to “The Biggest Press Jolly Junket Of The Year,” which is more commonly known as 3GSM. Effectivly every mobile phone company, player, software house and a swarm of Venture Capitalists descend on Cannes, buying up all the airline tickets and pushing the Hotel Prices up. So how Rafe and I have managed to find a 4 Bedroom Suite, on the Waterfront, at the ridiculously low price that we have is beyond me. Flights were a bit more difficult

I Really Like American Airlines

Say what you like, but there’s nothing like a personal recommendation to get business, and then having good service to keep someone coming back. Such is my experience of Transatlantic flights, of which I’ve just booked the second such return trip in my life so I can attend Emerging Tech 2005. Last year I was getting a lot of help to book flights (one web window, one IRC window, “is this good?”) when three people at once siad you have to fly American Airlines. Now when p[eople I trust all agree, I pay attention. So I booked with AA, had

Tickets Bought, Now How To Get There…

Well, that’s me bought the ticket for next year’s Emerging Technology Conference – The O’Reilly jaunt down to San Diego. Admittedly it’s a bit further away for me than Rael & Co, and I’ve a few more problems to work through – like where will I stay, will Crow get through US Customs without a strip search again, how to break it to Vikki, how much will flights cost me… Hmmm – anyone got any spare Air Miles?

Emerging Tech 2005

The Call For Proposals for Emerging Technology 2005 has went up on the O’Reily website. Given the fun I had last year launching the UIQ version of the OPL Runtime, I’d like to be invited again. I only talked briefly about OPL last time, so this time I’d like to grab one of the three hour Technical Seminar sessions and show you lot what it can really do. And be there as a generic Symbian fan – they’re under represented in the USA at best. I’ve asked O’Reily what sort of feedback my intro to OPL got to help me

NotCon Thoughts (It’s Over!)

Well, NotCon is finally over. Yesterday (Sunday 6th June) saw the first NotCon, or the sequel to Extreme Computing 2002, or the British equivalent to O’Reillys Emerging Technology. But whatever you called it, it looks like everyone actually enjoyed themselves at the event. Probably the two best indicators from an organisers point of view, is that (a) we didn’t lose money and (b) we sold out all the tickets. Looking back, we really should have arranged the insurance cover for a few more people (our limit was 340 in the building at a time) so that’s probably the most obvious

This is the confirmed, booked, and not changing date for Not Con 4 – “Definitely NOT the Emerging Technology conference in the UK” as NTK puts it.
