You can’t win a million with Million Dollar Poker

Nokia’s latest N-Gage release is Million Dollar Poker, and I’ve had a look at it over on All About Symbian; more specifically on Ovi Gaming. Nokia are shouting about this title, an the main selling point in this poker game (which is the third poker game to feature on the new N-Gage platform) is their support for online multi-player. Yes, Million Dollar Poker is here, and with a good handle on the terminology of poker, I think I can safely say that the closest poker term to describe Million Dollar Poker is… a bit of a flop. This is the

Rock Band Unplugged Makes Its Way to the Sony PSP

More podcasting fun, but this time with well-established bands as The PSP Show takes a look at Rock Band Unplugged. Harmonix, the developers, actually have form not just in the ‘pretending to play along with big instruments’ games, but also in the rhythm games. Their PS2 games Amplitude and Frequency used the same principles as they’ve used in Unplugged, and in short this is a great portable version of the modern music game. As well as a full review, the latest news and my views of the PSP scene are in the latest show [audio:http://psp.thepodcastnetwork.com/audio/tpn_psp_20090703_98.mp3]MP3 File – Show Notes –

We Want Our Boxes (For Our Games, That Is)

Over on Ovi Gaming I’ve posted an editorial on the importance of game boxes and physical media for the collector and the console gaming ecosystems. This may seem a strange issue to bring up, and even though there is a niche that regards game boxes as collectibles, there are many, many more that would be quite happy to sell on a game, be it to a second hand shop, as a trade in at EB Games, or on Amazon or eBay. And the games publishers are fighting to stop this second sale happening – after all, these are sold on

All About N-Gage becomes Ovi Gaming

One of the changes over this Memorial Weekend (isn’t it amazing how certain festivals have went international thanks to the internet?) is that All About N-Gage, the sister site of All About Symbian, is no more. It has ceased to be. It’s now Ovi Gaming. The news post with the changes can be found here, but in short: The new name reflects an expansion in the coverage of the site. In addition to providing the usual comprehensive N-Gage coverage, Ovi Gaming (OG) will provide coverage of games available via Nokia’s forthcoming Ovi Store… Ovi Gaming reflects the fact that both

Your Post-Wogan Eurovision Drinking Game

Watching the Eurovision Song Contest for many is a perfect time for a party, with nibbles and drinks. I know many people have so called drinking games to help them through the three hour spectacular. For many years, the standard drinking game in the UK for Eurovision was “drink whenever Terry Wogan said something rude.” That game got particularly dangerous in the last few years. So what can you do instead, given that we are in Magic 8-Ball territory on Graham Norton’s coverage (<fx: shake> Unclear, ask again later) and don’t know yet what we can latch on to? I
