TPN Rock #60 “Best Of” Show Available

This weekend saw TPN Rock #60 recorded and put up on the podcast. The decade shows at TPN Rock (#10, #20, etc) are always special as it’s own of the few times I allow myself to go back and replay artists – Rock Again lets me choose tracks to repeat, and the decades are a celebration, brtinging back the really hot nine acts that I’ve not got out of my head since first playing them in TPN Rock #51-#59. It’s a touch over 50 minutes long, so the people who ask for longer shows finally get one as well [MP3

TPN Rock and The New Wave of Heavy Metal

While the other music shows come under my wing (mwuh-ha-hah!), and the Edinburgh Fringe starting to gather momentum all on it’s own (four confirmed interviews, twelve more awaiting date confirmation, sub-licencing deals and other audio commissions coming through, and all that in the first 24 hours), it’s important to not forget about the foundations. Which doesn’t mean “Build Me Up Buttercup,” but does mean making sure TPN Rock continues to blow everyone out the water with some of the best unsigned, unknown and undiscovered music from around the internet. I am loving this weeks show (show #59). Sure next week

Taking over The Podcast Network Music Shows

To quote he who is far away but is [nominally] in charge… [I’m announcing] Ewan Spence as TPN’s first “channel manager”. Obviously as TPN continues to grow, there is going to be a need for me to delegate some of my daily responsibilities to others in the team. One concept we’ve been thinking about for some time is that of “channel managers”. The role of a channel manager will be to assist me in moderating the shows for that channel, as well as assist in recruiting new talent and closing advertising deals . As I’m going to be offline for

Here Comes The Edinburgh Fringe Podcast for 2006

Since the start of April, I’ve been getting emails asking the same thing – “are you doing your podcast from The Edinburgh Fringe this year?” Well, after a little bit of consideration, and given the upswell of support from the unknown (to me) listeners who have taken the time to email me, and that the show managed to gather a BAFTA nomination last year… The Edinburgh Fringe Podcast will return this year. That means the planning has started in earnest, and that means a million bits and pieces of paper being thrown around, a list a mile long of PR

Muriel Grey and the BBC Scotland Podcast Documentary (featuring Me!)

UK readers of The Musings will be able to pick up the BBC Radio Scotland podcast documentary on the BBC Listen Again service (others should consider using a UK proxy). While not a brilliant documentary, it is much bettter than a number of others in the last 6 months. Scottish broadcaster and journalist Muriel Gray, who starts off knowing nothing about podcasting records herself interviewing and exploring the space. It’s a very light documentary, with a nice humourous tone. I was glad that it never really descended into the normal “ooh you’re all wannabees” depreciation that other mainstream media documentaries

Stevie Nicks [Fleetwood Mac singer] Interviewed on The Podcast Network

Woo! Nui’s Rave over at TPN catches yet another massive interview from Nui’s archive. This week it’s Stevie Nicks… This week a treat from the vault. Rock Icon, The original rock chic, Stevie Nicks. It’s an interview packed with all the goodies you would expect from a Rock Icon like Stevie Nicks. We cover alot of ground, this Interview was recorded in 2004 on the eve of The Fleetwood Mac tour. So we delve into things like recording process, What inpsires Stevie in terms of a song. Then we talk about the drugs, The drug abuse through the eighties, being
