OPL for UIQ might be here, but I’m finding it a bit difficult to play along with. The catch is our PC at home. It’s taken a bit of twekaing to run the Series 60 OPL, and as I have 4 or 5 apps in various stages over OPL, there’s no room to install or run the UIQ SDK. THe PC is an old P250, and it barely copes with the S60 SDK. It does everything day to day that we need, so there’s no real need to upgrade that. But after Etech I’ve had a touch of laptop lust
Slight delay in getting some more Etech reports up – from picking up the poisioned chalice of organising ConConUK (big thumbs up to Danny O’Brien for some helpful “here’s how I attempted to cock up ConConUSA and failed” email todo.txt files), through getting some (lots!) of code checked out for something new next week (can I drop any more hints on this?), and hacking an electronic Go board under OPL for some people I met at Etech. From Vikki: Eilidh said her first “sentence” this morning… “Bye bye daddy” as Ewan was heading out to work (I lost count of how many times she said bye bye, she must have been saying it and waving for about a minute and a few times she said “bye bye daddy”). She’s now saying 27 words (I’ve been keeping a list so I can show the speech therapist when she summons Eilidh back into her presence). She’s also copying a lot more words accurately (though they’re not on the list yet because she’s not saying them without hearing them first).
Rikki Fulton Dies. Can’t say any more on the subject, I suspect most of Scotland is waking up and realising we’ve lost a legend.
He-heh. Eveyone gets to work on Monday morning, finds out htey’ve been asked to join Orkut, they join, and the server falls over. Plus all the holes, mass mailing bugs, and the fact that nobody in the UK can post images to the gallery because of copyright reasons… well… Orkut is down ‘for maintenance.’ Warned you we did, but nobody listened.
Yes I’m there as well, just like the 6% of the world connected to the Internet. And, just like everyone else, here’s my “huh?” moment. I dived into the gallery to put up a few pictures of Eilidh, Vikki and myself to find this phrase right below the upload button: Do not upload photos containing children, pets, cartoons, celebrities, nudity, artwork or copyrighted images. Well, that’s pretty wide ranging. What does that leave that I can put in the gallery? And if that’s the case, what’s the point in a gallery system?
