Engaging the User

No this isn’t the long sought after DIY fix for making the MMC in the N-Gage hot swapable, it’s a few ideas that could improve the value for money on the Game Cards. Let’s face it, with an RRP approaching £35, it’s a lot of money to spend on a game – and yes it is a comparable price point to other Gaming Systems, but why not go a few more steps and make them more than a game. There is a lot of spare space on the MMC, so let’s see how we could use this.

An Engaging Device

So I’m on a train back from meeting up with some of the Mobitopia crowd, and I’ve taken stock of what my N-Gage is doing. I’m logged into an IRC channel, discussing Dark Side Of The Moon; on the radio is Deep Purple; I’m checking the recent posts on All About Symbian; reading use latest news via RSS; and posting this thought to my website. I’d call that a successful and useful device. Who said the N-Gage was a failure?

The N-Gage MCP

I asked where the evil SX-1 was, not realising that the answer was before my very eyes. The David Warner of mobile gaming consoles, the Nokia N-Gage. I want the SX-1 in the Arena till he dies. Part of me is wondering where the rest of the Symbian OS phones fit into the movie world. Suggestions anyone?

Busy Few Days On OPL

Isn’t this logo the greatest? Vikki made it up for the OPL Webring, which needs set up shortly. There’s still so much to do with OPL before it can become the third (second?) language on Symbian OS Smartphones, but the last week has seen a lot of major steps.

Someone in Siemens has a Tron Fetish

So, I’ve recieved a mysterious parcel from Munich with a Series 60 device that looks remarkably like an SX-1. And my two intial thoughts are this. It still looks like a CyberMat from Tomb of the Cybermen. Jeff Bridges could have had one of these in Tron. Im just waiting now for the David Warner limited edition red SX-2…
