I’ll Be Hosting A SXSW Social Breakfast – You’re All Invited

Yes there are lots of these going on at the moment in certain Web 2.0 circles – the Social breakfasts, with a chosen venue where anyone and everyone can turn up – and while I’m reasonably sure that something like this would happen in Austin, I’ve decided to post up details on my first breakfast in Austin, label it as a “Social Breakfast” and see who turns up. So here’s the deal. Saturday 8th March, at Magnolia’s Cafe, 1920 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX78704, I’ll be sitting down to breakfast at 8am. The first panel starts at 10am, and Anil’s

Sharing Personal experiences – Seesmic and DEMO (and Davos)

It’s all starting to become clear to those of us prepping the ground for the bleeding edge – the next Big Think (TM) is going to be people doing their own live outside broadcasts (be it audio or video) of events, using the internet as the transmission mechanism. The first big murmurings have been from Davos, and have relied heavily on two new pieces of technology – Qik (streaming video from mobiles with a chat room attached) and Seesmic (a ‘chatroom’ of video geared heavily to creating conversations). Let me talk about Seesmic, as I have some experience with that.

The Podcast Network in 2007, Some Numbers For You

Cameron has posted the 2007 summary for The Podcast Network over on the G’Day World Blog. The big numbers you can all take away from it are as follows… Listeners: 5.5 million (5,411,993) Downloads: 7 million (6,991,269) Visits: 23 million (23,247,031) Pageviews: 70 million (69,920,808) Of course it’s not all been plain sailing, and Cameron’s went into some detail on that, as well: We started off the year with a re-design of the homepage and lots of fast growth. Around the middle of year our server admin quit and I had to put a stop to adding new shows. Then

Jaiku’s not as Dead-pool as I Thought

Yesterday I wrote about the lack of noise (or updates, or anything!) around Jaiku since its purchase by Google. Turns out that Jyri made a post today on the Jaiku Blog addressing some of the points. First, we know the Jaiku site is currently not as responsive as it should be… Second, I know you’re all excited to hear what’s next for Jaiku and what we’ve been working on since joining Google. To be honest, a lot of our time in the early going was spent on getting to know Google I’ve no doubt that getting everything integrated and running

Did I Miss A Facebook Memo on Messages

So I’ve just spotted a Facebook “You Got Mail!” message in in my regular email inbox (and yes, I even hear a crappy AOL style voice in my head when I type it…) and it took me a minute to recall why I felt I had missed something. And there it was. In the body of the email, wasn’t just a link back to my Facebook Message Box, but the actual contents of the message was in the message alert. I didn’t need to click through and rack up another page-view on Facebook to read a message! I recall this
