I want what the NSA and GCHQ are using instead of Google Reader

While a bundle of start-ups and incubators are ‘on crunch‘ to finish the betas of their replacements for Google Reader, there’s probably one bit of software that could do the job even better than Google Reader. GCHQ and NSA must have some really good RSS plug-ins for reading websites. If we’re going to ignore the implications of the data trawling, could we at least benefit from the code that our taxes paid for?

Digital advertising growth now exceeds the drop in print advertising

Unfortunately (a) digital is starting from a much smaller base, so in raw terms it’s still tens of millions behind print; and (b) it’s for the Daily Mail website. Still, lets take it as a positive sign for newspapers in general. Just looking at advertising, DMGT said that digital advertising growth across DMG Media now exceeds print advertising decline: “This is a significant inflection point for the business”, the company said.

A lesson in deadlines from Medium

The reason we did our preview launch in August was simply to getsomething out the door. As soon as we picked the date and a minimal feature set, we got rid of loads of other features we were playing with (some of which we’ll bring back, some of which we won’t).
