The Geeks Have To Stop Forcing Android On Everyone

Most consumers who’ve been tricked into buying Android will either migrate to iPhone or perhaps move to a legitimate third alternative if one ever arises. And that means there’s no battle for the geeks left to fight… their influence on the mainstream, which had been in freefall for a decade, officially ended this week. Should I be worried about Apple’s podcasting patent?

Apple have been awarded their podcasting patent on “Techniques and systems for supporting podcasting” Pretty sure there’s a bundle of prior art here (Kevin?), but I’m looking at this with a cold chill. I’m not a patent lawyer, but it looks to me that Apple have walked up to the very big podcasting table, opened their jacket enough for everyone to see them carrying an AK-47 Assault Rifle, and have sat down with an innocent smile on their face. Ellen Degeneres, JC Penny, and Apple

Even from this side of the Atlantic I can hear the noise over the Ellen Degeneres witch-hunt (can I call it a witch hunt?). Hmm, sounds like JC Penny has grown a pair. I wonder what brought that on? And then I remembered something about JC Penny. They had launched a new ad campaign with their new President… Ron Johnson. Who walked away from the SVP of Retail at Apple. I get the feeling JC Penny are (a) in safe hands and (b) ready to kick butt and take names.
