Here’s a fun observation. A BBC News article on Sherlock Holmes and the American actor who rebooted the series through the stage and the first (silent) Holmes film, William Gillette. Mentions of Benedict Cumberbatch… Five. Mentions of Johnny Lee Miller (the arguably superior portrayal of Holmes)… None. Bit of an unspoken agenda, there?
Ars Technica have the best description of it I’ve seen.
