The explosion of top-level domains is wrong. I’ve argued before on silly ideas like .scot , .paris or .iminternetfamous, likening them to nothing more than a mafia style protection racket on companies who don’t want or can’t afford an inappropriate association to their brand online. The BBC report today on the porn sites suing regulator ICM (even they don’t want it!) has some interesting numbers. There have been  just over 1000 legitimate registrations for people who want to use .xxx for their business, and almost 79,000 registrations from trademark owners, who likely have no desire to start an adult site.
