Iron Maiden on today’s TPN Rock

Now there’s a headline I’ve been looking to write for some time! Just to recap, tomorrow (April 21st) is Iron Maiden Day, where the band’s new film Flight 666 will be screening on roughly 400 digital screens around the world. It’s the largest opening day for a music documentary ever, and in most screens it’s a one day only experience. You’ll need to queue for the DVD and Blu-Ray disc available in the next few weeks to re-live the experience. So here’s a little 25 minute documentary on the film, with some words from Bruce Dickinson and Kevin Shirley, and

Why Akoha Has Captured My Mood

As mentioned in my previous post, I think that working on and bringing a more human touch to start ups and internet companies will lead to the next success; and one of those is Akoha. Dave Delaney introduced me to this at SXSW by (a) buying me a pint of Belhaven in Austin (hey I’d been stateside for two weeks, Belhaven was like manna) and at the same time (b) handing me a playing card sized Akoha card. On the card was a mission – “Invite Someone for Drinks.” So Dave scores karma points on the Akoha website, and I

SXSW Film Preview Podcast, with Janet Pierson

Janet Pierson is on the end of the line in our final preview of South by Southwest. Taking over from Matt Dentler at SXSW Film, Janet is no stranger to film-making (having been involved with many films, including Clerks and Roger & Me to name two), and her enthusiasm for the challenge of the Film Festival is clear for all to hear. SXSW Interactive Preview Podcast, with Hugh Forrest

Second preview for SXSW, this time looking at Interactive with Hugh Forrest. Recorded at 6am (UK time) and Midnight (Austin) I need to thank Hugh publicly for making the time to carry out the interview. Lots of ground to cover in this episode, including how late can the plans change; does panel picker promote diversity at SXSW interactive; deciding on the keynote speakers and inviting people back to speak again; the party scene; and the growth of SXSW. The SXSW Music Preview Podcast, with Brent Grulke

As everyone who knows what RSS stands for heads to Austin for South by Southwest Interactive, the rest of the world eagerly awaits SXSW Music (or is insanely jealous that they’re not going and their co-workers are). Music was their first, the rest of the festival happened later. Of course SXSW needs all three to be the full experience, so I have three preview podcasts, with the heads of SXSW Music, Interactive and Film. First up is Brent Grulke, of SXSW Music.
