I never saw Jack Dorsey as a Bond villian

If Willy Wonka built a financial institution, instead of a chocolate factory, it would look something like Square. During an interview at the company’s San Francisco offices with Mr. Dorsey, we sat at a square table, in a square glass conference room — all of which are named after a famous town squares from around the world. Mr. Dorsey was eating nuts out of a square bowl. (Don’t worry, the nuts were still round, I checked.) Employees are even referred to as Squares. NYT Bits.

Nokia’s Chinese Whispers

Look past the Chinese language if you have to, but this interview with Stephen Elop on Sina.com.cn has a nice bundle of bullet points, including: Nokia are bringing expertise in navigation, mapping and entertainment to Windows Phone. They will be “doing things” to help Symbian users move to Windows Phone. Meego is going to be a key element to the Chinese strategy. …and it’s hard for Elop to understand why Google created uncertainty in the Android ecosystem (which Nokia could have joined). Joikuspot – Not just another app on a phone

Steve interviews Tom Ojala, CEO of Joikuspot, the software that turns your Symbian smartphone into a portable hot-spot, something that other handset users look at with envy. Roadblocks? Yep, Google, Apple, Samsung and RIM didn’t allow us to port JoikuSpot to their platform. They said it was impossible for them to grant a small company like ours access to their OS platform for security reasons. Very annoying: both for us and for potential customers. The full interview is at Nokia Conversations.
