Video Diaries and Reviewing Smartphones

While on the US trip, myself, Rafe and Steve over at All About Symbian decided to take the time that I was away from my regular desk to do a little testing of a new product, namely short video reviews of handsets over a long period of time. During March, readers of All About Symbian were treated (I think) to my views of the Nokia 5800, and the format was well received. So now I’m back home, we’ve decided to keep them running. With the 5800 now rather comprehensively examined, my eye (and camera) will be turning to the Nokia

After The Edinburgh Twestival

Okay, so the bottom line first… the Edinburgh Twestival (on the night) raised just short of £3,500, which I think is a fantastic total. There are still some auction prizes and other bits you can be involved in so head over to the website. They’ve supplied me with two devices (the Compal MID, and the BenQ S6) straight from the CES floor in Las Vegas, and I’ll be trying them out around Scotland. You can follow what I get up to, and my thoughts on the two Linux powered box, over on the site. Here are the articles from today, the first day… Unboxing the Compal MID device. I’ll be using this slider device (keyboard sliding out from under the screen) for the first

There’s No-one as Scottish as Barack Obama

I think that Kenya might have something to say about this one, but I get that feeling that both Ireland and Scotland (the old countries) will be more than happy to claim Barack Obama as one of their own. And we have the song to prove it. The man behind this reworking of a classic song is Alan Smart, and he does have form in this. And don’t forget to claim your free Obama-coffee before Friday from your nearest UK Krispy Kreme.
